Kristen A. Roorbach, MS, Ph.D., LPC, DirectorHi, I’m Kristen—a child and family therapist passionate about helping kids and parents feel more connected, understood, and supported. I work with children ages 3 to 23 and their families, using a relationship-based, brain-informed approach that’s grounded in the latest research and a deep respect for each family’s unique story.
My work blends Family Systems and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with brain-based strategies and developmental science. I’m also trained in Positive Behavior Support, Behavior Modification, Trauma-Informed CBT, Functional Behavior Assessment, and early childhood special education. Whether your child is struggling with anxiety, big emotions, school issues, or family transitions, I’m here to help guide the process with compassion and evidence-based care. Before founding The Loop Center, I worked as a Visiting Lecturer in Psychology at the University of Richmond and as a Research Associate at UVA’s Center for Advanced Study of Teaching and Learning, where I helped develop behavior interventions and national tools for supporting quality early childhood education. I’ve also written a book on The Opportunity Gap, created a teaching manual for Trauma-Informed Classrooms, and shared my work nationally through podcasts and professional speaking. I hold a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology, a Master’s in Clinical Counseling, and master’s-level training in Special Education. I currently teach at the University of Virginia's Batten School for Public Policy, where I lead courses on poverty and education and special education policy. Outside the therapy room, you can find me hiking the Blue Ridge Mountains with my husband, children and step-children, and two sweet dogs. If you're looking for a therapist who brings both clinical expertise and a deep commitment to relationship-based care, I’d love to connect. |
Elise Wise, MA, Clinical ResidentHi, I’m Elise—a Resident in Counseling at The Loop Center. I’m passionate about supporting children, teens, young adults, and families as they navigate emotional, behavioral, and relational challenges. My goal is to create a warm, safe, and collaborative space where clients feel understood, empowered, and capable of meaningful growth.
I work with concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, emotional regulation, self-esteem, behavioral challenges, and family transitions. My approach is strengths-based and relationship-focused, emphasizing the innate resilience each child and family brings into the room. In sessions, I integrate Person-Centered Therapy, Family Systems Theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and child-centered play-based interventions. I am currently receiving supervision from a Registered Play Therapist Supervisor as I work toward my play therapy credentialing. I enjoy partnering closely with parents—helping them better understand their child’s needs, strengthen connection, and support emotional well-being at home. I earned my B.A. in Psychology from George Mason University and my M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University, a CACREP-accredited program. I am practicing under the supervision of George Enfield, MHR, M.Ed., LPC, RPT-S, and am mentored by Dr. Kristen Roorbach here at The Loop Center. Outside of the office, I love spending time with my husband and our two kids, being outdoors, and exploring new places whenever we’re able. If you’re looking for a compassionate, developmentally informed therapist for your child or family, I’d be honored to connect. |
Adam Rose, MBA, SHRM-SCP, Clinical ResidentHi, I’m Adam - a Resident in Counseling at the Loop Center, and I’m committed to helping teens, young adults (college age), individuals of all ages and couples find clarity, connection and meaning as they work through the challenges of life.
I provide support/space for the daily struggles of life but also for the larger emotional, behavioral, and social struggles, including anxiety, depression, trauma, self-esteem issues, relationship dynamics and family dynamics. These larger emotional memories and experiences help shape our worldview and oftentimes contribute to negative feelings around self-image, which can affect daily interactions with those around us. My approach is collaborative, goal oriented and strengths-based, meaning that we focus on what has been supportive and find new habits/behaviors to cultivate with the goal(s) of being the best version of you that you want to be. In our work together, I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Person Centered Therapies and Parts Work to tailor treatment to the unique needs of each client. I earned my B.A. in Business from Liberty University, my MBA from Western Governors University and M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from University of the Cumberlands, a CACREP-accredited program. I’m currently practicing under the supervision of Jenine Stallings, LPC, and am mentored by Dr. Kristen Roorbach here at The Loop Center. Outside of the office, I love spending time with my wife and our two kids, traveling to northern Virginia for the next great food experience and spending time around our backyard firepit. If you are looking for a therapist whose goal is to want you to “Be the best version of yourself on and off the field” - Ted Lasso…I might know a guy. |
